:: FOREIGN MISSIONS
From the very first deployment of Jesus’ disciples, Christians
have felt the compelling urge to speed the gospel to the ends
of the earth. At Living Hope Family Church we are no different.
We believe that the great commission (Matthew 28: 19 -20) is part
of our direct purpose as believers, and must be a priority for
us as a church. It is our goal at LHFC to inspire average Christians
to do extraordinary things by providing them with opportunities
to participate in foreign missions and by sponsoring ongoing works
in these far away places.
Looking beyond ourselves into the lives of our Christian brothers
and sisters worldwide, we are able to gain a perspective that
changes us forever. Many things at home that we have taken for
granted for years become fresh again. We are overwhelmed by lessons
of faith and perseverance from those who do not share the same
freedom as we do. We discover the joy of giving ourselves away,
and our personal significance in life is no longer in question.
As a church we have sponsored missions in South Africa, Mozambique,
Latvia and the Philippines. We have participated in medical missions,
evangelistic missions, building projects, food and clothing distribution
amongst the poor, and the financing of local churches and projects.
We encourage continued correspondence between members of our congregation
and those in the mission field, especially those who labor in
the spiritual harvest.
:: PLANNING TO GO ON A
MISSION
Life’s greatest joys come from obeying the word of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Just before He ascended into heaven He left
us this charge; “All authority has been given to Me in heaven
and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of
the age.” Amen. We believe that every Christian should go
on at least one mission trip in their lives.
Planning to go is one of the most important decisions of your
life. The experience can be
life transforming and even life re-directing, but it’s all
worth it. We need to see the needs of others. Their need for the
basics of life, which we take for granted. Their need for the
truth and love of God, which we carry in our hearts. The need
they have for encouragement from those who have so much and who
are willing to share. And we need them. We need them to show us
that real joy and happiness is not found in the abundance of our
possessions and the comfort of our western lifestyles, but in
the simplicity of devotion to Christ and to one another. Don’t
hesitate; don’t fear, but answer the call and plan to go.

:: STAYING AT HOME
Although not everyone can join the ‘Away Team’ on
a short-term mission trip, there is ample opportunity for all
to participate in other ways. Whatever reason you may have to
stay home, you can still be an integral part of every trip. You
can raise funds for the team or give towards their expenses or
their project. You can commit to pray daily for a traveling team
or individual. You can help the team prepare and boost their moral.
You can even offer to take care of their pets while they are away!
We are a team, and both those who stay and those who go are fellow
team-members, equally important and each one vital to the mission.
