LHFC Missions

Living Hope has cultivated a number of international relationships over the past two decades, and we continue to support and send workers into the global harvest fields. Whether it is raising funds for full-time workers in far away churches, supplying resources for communities In need, sponsoring the Gospel presentation or putting our own people to work on short-term trips, we feel passionate about representing the love of Jesus Christ all around the world.

Here are some of the missionaries we proudly support with resources and teams:

Darryl and Janine Mather-Pike, Emoyeni Ministries (South Africa)

Darryl and Janine, who served as beloved pastors of Living Hope from 1999 to 2006, head up a ministry that focuses on youth and young adults among the rural and semi-rural people of Elukwatini and Emanzana in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. Many of our own congregation have made short-term trips (and some long-term as well) with Darryl and Janine to build community centers, homes, kitchen and feeding programs, day-care facilities, and accommodations on the Emoyeni farm. We have also participated in medical missions, educational trips and preaching among the many local churches. This has been our primary mission outreach for the past 15 years.

Robbie Housen, HOPE Center (Mozambique)

Robbie Housen and her late husband, Jeff, moved to Mozambique in 1999 with the vision to train and release church planters into communities across the country. Prior to this, they were missionaries in India and Thailand, serving under churches and Bible Colleges, and even founding a Women’s Bible School and Church Planting Institute. In 2000, they established Hope College and have seen in excess of 50 churches planted in 7 out of the 10 Provinces across Mozambique, and countless lives and communities impacted by the Gospel. The College is a live-in leadership, mentoring, training and church planting center raising up the next generation of leaders in Mozambique. Living Hope sent a team to Mozambique in 2004. We have hosted Robbie in our pulpit a number of times, and continue to support her work with an annual gift.

Dave Smethurst, Smethurst Ministries (Australia and England)

A long-standing favorite in the pulpit of Living Hope, Dave shares South African roots in common with pastor Erik and Tami, and has been a friend of Tami’s family since her childhood. His global preaching ministry supports orphanages in Ukraine, Latvia and former Soviet nations. Dave has a powerful ministry among the military leaders of the Baltic nations, and has served as chaplain at a number of Summer, Winter and Special Olympic Games. Living Hope has supported his work with donations and also with laborers, and pastor Erik has made a number of trips to Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, Israel and England to see Dave’s ministry. In addition, Living Hope cherishes an ongoing relationship with pastor Sasha Rodionov (Norway, Latvia and Germany) and pastor Aleksey Raikhstadt (Tel Aviv, Israel), both of whom were introduced to us through Dave.

Charles and Jane Curtis, International Missions Project (South East Asia)

Charles and Jane are part of the Living Hope extended family, Jane being daughter of the late Florence Galaska, one of our founding members. They have filled our pulpit on a number of times, and are dear friends. It is our privilege to partner with them in their ministry abroad. With a primary focus in the nations of S.E. Asia, Charles has sought to live, bond, and minister the gospel among Asian people, the vast majority who have never heard the gospel, having no clear understanding of the message of Christ. With a heart to serve, Charles and Jane have been developing ministry friendships and partnerships to help advance the cause of Christ in Asian nations. Pastor Erik has traveled to S.E. Asia with Charles, and we look forward to many future mission opportunities for the whole fellowship.

Jack McKee, New Life City Church (Belfast, N.Ireland)

Jack and Kathleen McKee have spent their lives breaking down the walls between clashing Protestant and Catholic factions in Belfast in the name of Jesus Christ. Jack’s testimony of death-threats, bomb blasts, harrowing confrontations and powerful cross-walks has kept us on the edge of our seats every time he visits. Although we have not yet accepted the invitation to N. Ireland, Living Hope is pleased to pray for and support the now famous church that straddles the wall, and the work that they do bringing the message of reconciliation to a war-torn city.

Rey and Novie Laping, Living Hope Family Church (Philippines)

Rey and Novie built a thriving ministry and a church among the hopeless poor of the city dump in Dumaguete City, Philippines. Over the years, they have planted a number of other churches and gospel outreaches, as well as a preschool. Living Hope adopted their mission in the early 2000’s, and have been blessed to make quarterly contributions to support the Lapings ever since. Although we have not yet hosted them on Cape Cod, 2019 marks the first short-term trip by pastor Erik to see the Philippine work that bears our name.
